Weekend At Bribie Island

Last weekend Hubby and l were planning on having a weekend away in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, but at the last minute son number three came along to view a car he was interested in which was in Brisbane, so he had to come along on our weekend away as it is about 2 hours away and we had no intention of driving him home again.....then leaving on our weekend.

It rained from the time we hit the outskirts of Brisbane on the north side. Didn't let up so we decide to have lunch at Redcliffe then on to Bribie Island deciding it was not worth going any further due to the weather forming off the coast....which was a very good call as it so happened.

We stayed in this very nice house on the canal in Pacific Habour on Bribie Island. We spent our time looking around the Island and were impressed as to what they have to offer...Deep sea fishing, 4 wheel driving, Surf beach and at least two other family beaches, golf courses and most of the Island is a National Park.

Even though the weather was not the best we still enjoyed our time away.

Cooking 101.

Have had a lovely day cooking as the weather is wet cold and not at all pleasant.  Sitting around in track suit pants and slippers. Looking through cook book last night.
Made Meringues, Walnut fudge, Passionfruit slice, Raspberry drops cookies, Mud cake still in oven so took picture from magazine,  ......hubby made Zucchini slice. Also have Eco pot cooking away with and Indian chicken curry for tonight's dinner. All done and dusted cleaned away all the pot pans cake trays and now l feel it is time for a cuppa and some show and tell.Looking forward to the eating when the children arrive home from work and school.

The Week That Has Been!

Firstly the swag l made in a previous post has finally been hung up in my sewing room very happy girl now.
New hedge planted around front of house to try and stop the many thousands of  visitors from trampling the front of our house, when they cut the corner on their eager way to see the winning gardens in our street each year.
Another secret project being hatched. Will have to wait to see the out come.
Started watching the Block again it always pulls me in. Which means changing things around in my home again.
New bed linen wall art cushions etc.
New colour being introduce into the lounge area. The family are happy that it is not more green. There is going to be a splash of turquoise throughout the living areas this year.  Wish me luck.
Last but by no means least still working on the Christmas decorations for my good blog friend Illene. Has definitely been a week of mixed efforts. Been watching too much of my kitchen rules also, spending way to much time looking through cook books.  Hope to achieve more next week in the craft sewing area.

More Banners....

Have made a variety of these banners.

Nursery banner for Michelle's grandchildren's room.

Because of all the rain we are having it has giving me time to do quite a bit of sewing. Made a number of these banners (8) in all. Being sent of to friends with grandchildren  rooms and new born family members of my own.
Plus one for my sewing room which l did mention in a previous post.
One fat quarter will yield (9) triangles, multiply this by the number of fat quarters used and you will be making three separate banners or one very long one.  Was a load of fun easy to make......time to move on to other sewing projects.

Ground Hog Day!

Well it's been like ground Hog day here for the past four days rain, rain and more rain. Now for something a bit different wind rain and power outage.  Toowoomba has been cut of from Warwick, Ipswich and Crows-nest due to minor flooding across the hwy s   Have been asked not to go out unless necessary.  I suppose we will wake up in the morning to more rain, rain, rain .  But on a up beat note the chickens are having their feathers dryed out by my son Hayden with the hair dryer. Before they are put to bed.

Thread Catcher

Fibre Art Postcard
This is a fibre art  post card made for a friend in Melbourne. Who belongs to a special little group of very talented and generous women. Debby is the firsts one in our little group to celebrate her Birthday each year. As she will not be attending the annual retreat l decided to make her a gift and send it off to hopefully arrive on her special day. Because of the beading l couldn't send the postcard through the mail like a true postcard..So l made a gift to go along with it..

Close up of the beading l added.

Give Away. Back In The Saddle Again.

Have been a little of my game these past few months, but now that the weather has become a little cooler today, l have been once again able to get out to the sewing room and do more than unpack mags and neaten up fabric.  Sorting takes a lot out of a girl, in the heat.  Have managed to make a couple of easy projects one for my sewing room one for a child's bedroom. It is a Garland will add photo's  soon.  More ideas popping into my head than popcorn at the movies. Need to finish the ones l have started and write down all the new ones on my note pad.  Fabric purchased at Spotlight last year sometime for this very project.

GIVE AWAY:

This is my 250 post l think l should have my first  give a way. Please post a comment for the chance to win.  A Garland of pink and green girly.   Winner drawn out of hat on Friday 25th January, 2013.

Plan for 2013.

This year l plan on NOT having a New Year Resolution.
But lots of small goals l wish to achieve though out the year.  As we know life with family is always a changing act....my goals will have to be practical and achievable..
In my sewing world l would like to get to as many sewing retreats as possible starting with the Girls day out at the  Quilting Angel in Highfields.
Finish as many quilting and sew projects as humanly possible.....with limited time.
Enjoy some travel around this large and beautiful country.... buying up more fabric than practical to use in one life time....catching up with fellow bloggers.
And one almighty clean out Garage sale ready for our next move.
