Friday Fun

Most ideas come about because you see some fabric or button and ideas start popping into your head.  This one was to add a small amount of color  to a very simple piece. I chose pink because l simply had some left over pink RicRac from a previous project.  Not wanting to purchase more supplies and waste a good idea made these items. Firstly a simple Table runner. Still having fabric left over made this small bag which could be used for any number of things, mug bag, drink bottle holder etc.  Still having even more fabric remaining l decide to make another book cover. Next might be a mug rug, pencil case or even a lingerie bag. Was a bit of Friday Fun.

Book Cover

Have been busy making this book cover for a very special little girl Ruth.C.
Made from a Honey bun l bought here in Toowoomba from Precious Time about a  year or so ago. Very girly and had to add the Ric Rac.
Will be making more Folder covers in the future. But not today has been freezing here on top of the hill.

Beautiful Day.

Had a couple of visitors today. Their partners where hiding in the bushes,.  Was not easy trying to capture these two on film so to speak, as they kept moving.

My veggie patch is growing very well now that we have added so much soil improver and feeding the plants every fortnight. I have Cauliflowers, Snow peas, Sugar Snap peas which are delicious, Rhubarb my children's favorite.  The Corn, Zucchini, Capsicums and Chilli's are growing slowly and l even have Tomatoes flowering, strange. They will be put into a small glass house to keep the frost and fruit fly away.  Strawberries are planted ready for this years crop.  Pansy are in full bloom making a lovely display of deep purple. Very happy with how things are going in the veggie patch now.

Santa Sack Swap Arrived.

My Santa Sack arrived a few moments ago, you all are the second ones to know after my partner of course. Will post pictures in the morning when l can take good ones with better light.  So very very exciting...... makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.  Now the torture starts not being able to peek. Have tied the  sack up tightly so l will not be tempted.  Children and Hubby are keeping a close eye on me........ they know it will a struggle, me being so nosy ......  they will continue to tease me on what treasures may be in there. lol.
Big thank you to Illene of retdairyqueen for such a lovely Santa Sack, it's very big which can only mean there are lots of fantastic gifts on there way to fill my sack.

What have l been doing??

Well l have been busy thinking up new ideas for the Christmas swap. So many ideas flowing through this sift l call a brain. Should write them down or draw a pretty picture at least.   Or do l stick to the tried and true never fail ideas.  Looking through the old mags /books fate ideas.  Glad the school hols are here so l don't have to stop for the school drop off/pick up.  Sending off the first parcel on Thursday all wrapped up. Hope my partner Illene is tempted but does not peek.  Do all the gifts have to have a Christmas theme?

Still have many boxes to unpack in my sewing room as cannot find everything.  Have purchases in my walk in robe l need to take out to the new studio. Need to keep all UFO's together.  A place to store my templates, threads, lace, ribbons the list just goes on. Hope l have enough room still need to get my cutting table in, spare iron for all that pressing.  Some where to hang those quilts and wall space for pictures etc.  Also need to make curtains for the windows, cushion for my rocker.  So l can sit and read my Mags in the library corner.  I am exhausted.

Starting to move things into sewing room.  Purchased three book case units for storage.  As you can see have started to unpack boxes with plenty more to still be unpacked.  Fabric will stay in tubs for now.  Finding all my UFO's and notions l had forgotten about. I am sure there will be lots more tweaking to be had before l will settle down.
Still waiting on electrician to install power to room but where there is a will of course there is a way......very long extension cord. lol.   Lucky it is not raining.

As l am in the Santa Sack Swap being hosted by Cheryll from Gone Stitchin'...blog.   I have made my sack for my partner.....first item to be sewn in my new space.  Its all hush hush for now, so shhhhhh. All will be revealed after it has been posted.

Toowoomba Quilters Club Raffle Quilt

Toowoomba's raffle quilt made by the members and very nicely quilted by Lyn Crump.  Close up of some of the wonderful quilting. A real piece of art.

Stunning quilt that will be raffled off at this years Quilt show. Well done to all the girls of Toowoomba quilters who took part in the making of this gawjus  quilt.  I for one will be purchasing many tickets when the time comes.  Toowoomba's quilt show is held the same time as the Carnival of flowers every year, so keep this time free and mark it down in your diaries.  This is the time when Toowoomba shines brightly.  So if you are passing through keep in mind accommodation will be hard to find. So book ahead and not be disappointed.

Work continues....

Here is my part of the new shed just waiting for the electrician to connect lights, fan.......then its shelving, tables, sewing machine and everything else.  I am lucky it is fully insulated.

Do you like the wall l painted myself.  Took me two whole days to complete..... very sore and tired .......do not like ladders at any time.  The room is full of nature light thanks to the reflective material and light colour paint.

Thinking about painting the rocking chair white next.....add cushion..... sit and relax.

Think l will keep my day job...... Domestic Goddess.

Need name for my retreat.  Quilters Haven, Quick Hideaway, Quilters 1/4 (Quarters.)???

FNSI

Had a productive night, went via spotlight through the week and came across some project sheets which l thought l could give ago.

Firstly l made up these cute little lunch bags for my niece and girlfriends daughters.  How cute and easy are they??

Then l had ago at making up these fabric beaded necklaces for gifts again for my niece and myself. Only made four of these before running out of beads in the correct sizes.  Cannot show pics as the maybe watching my blog to see what l have been up too.

My quilting group are having their big cuppa morning tea on Tuesday and the colour for this year is yellow so l made this Frangipani hair pin to go with my new yellow fabric beaded necklace.

Granny Smith Apple

Hubby should know better then to let me out with the credit card.  Saw this love green apple and felt a little hungry at the time, had to have it.

Goes extremely well in the house sits next to the new large screen TV.  Adding a bit of colour to the room, slowly.  Matches in very nicely with the green/brown cushions which will go well on the brown sofa.  Which is my next purchase for the home theater room.  Along with the picture for the wall of a Dandelion.  Have taken a number of photo's out in the garden trying to find the better one to have mounted onto  canvas.  Wish me luck.
