My Aussie Day Bag

My Aussie day bag with zipped front pocket.
My son  Sean came home with one of those light weight back pack bags and l thought l could make myself one of those, but with my usual twist.  I wanted something that no one else had, so l set out looking through my stash as this is my year for using up scraps and fabric l already have in my sewing room.  Found the piece l needed and started....laying out bits and measuring the size l thought l needed then over to the machine and started sewing.
I put a front pocket in mine with another pocket inside that for phone and cards.  As l really  don't like searching for phone when it rings.
The fabric l think gives the appearance  of dense trees, perfect for my Swaggie.  Have now received request from other family members to personalize ones for them. So l will be missing in action for a while. Hubby's one will be the next one as he is going to Tassie this year and would like a day pack for walking tracks. The only fall back is that mine is not water proof or as light weight as those cheap day packs you can pick up around town.

Luggage Tags

Displaying my Luggage Tags & Strap on my bag ready to go.....  Should not be to hard to find on luggage carousel.   Have one more strap to complete which will go around the bags middle to hold all the extra goodies that you purchase when on a trip from falling out.  lol.
Am very happy with my bright tags etc. should be the only one at airport.

Minky Scarf for this Winter

Have been wanting to make one of these Minky scarfs for a while, but had to wait until spotlight replenished there stock and the right colour.
They are so soft, light weight & warm.... unbelievably  you don't know you are wearing  it.
With the left over minky l made a smaller one for a child or a head band. May even have a small square left over to make a scrunchy for my hair to match.

Happy Mother's Day.

Mother's Day Proclamation

Mother's Day Proclamation
This powerful Proclamation was made by Julia Ward Howe in the advocacy for the need of official celebration of Mother's Day in Boston, United States of America in 1870. Miss Howe was the first person in US to recognize the need for Mother's Day holiday. She was successful in raising awareness amongst the masses and pushing her plead to the upper echelons of power.

Following this very potent Proclamation made in 1870, the Mothers' Peace Day Observance was held on the second Sunday in June, 1872. Such observances began to take place each year thereafter and paved the way for Mothers' Day Holiday in US on the second Sunday of May.

Though Ms Howe could not herself get the day recognized as the official holiday, she is revered for her significant contributions towards the celebration of the day and for bestowing honor on mothers.

Julia Ward Howe is also famous as the writer of the Civil War song, 'The Battle Hymn of the Republic'.

Luggage Tags

Have been busy once again making Luggage Tags for MY BAG chose the apple core shape.  Have made luggage tags before in varying shapes and sizes, but these apple core shape ones are for me. As you know l was inspired by the Homespun magazine POM. to do with travel....making many different projects with a twist to suit my needs.   Thought l could do with  some bag tags to help me identify my luggage at the airport, still have many items under construction such as my suitcase straps to embrace my bag.  More for appeal than practical reasons....but a dual propose just the same. Watch this space....lol.
