Tardar

These are my scrappy Mothers's day poises two pretty girly ones....one for my Mum and the other for Son No.1 partner.....the purple bunch are for Son No.2 girlfriends Mother.    Rachel asked if l would be kind enough to make one for her Mum.....what could l say but "yes".

Enjoyed making these very easy projects trying to reduce the amount of scraps in my sewing room....at this stage l only have two plastic tubs full....lucky l gave away loads of fabric before the move.  lol.

All one colour way looks stunning l think.  This was a pattern from Brandy Gully designs. Such a pleasure always to make Nikki's patterns up easy to follow instructions. Have a few more patterns l have not yet attempted. Time is getting a way from me.
This is the one for son No.1. partner.
Rachel's mothers gift is wrapped and ready to go.

Caloundra Week Away

Forgot to post about our lovely week away at Caloundra in Queensland.  This was are view from our balcony we stayed at golden beach the weather was a really shocker most of the week with sunny times here and there. Kings beach the popular tourist beach was a bit wild and woolly.  But up the road a bit at Noosa the weather was beautiful. great for a dip. Gave us plenty of time to explore the coastline.  Even thou the weather was not behaving we did enjoy our stay.

Mother's Day Gone Scrappy

Very usual flower on a bush, any one out there happen to know the name of the bush or flower??

Now back to more scrappy ideas making a few bunches of flowers for Mother's Day.... Firstly My Mum then other Mums.   Need to make up some playdough, does anyone out there have a recipe as l have not had to make this for sometime.

Where is the best place to buy florist wire....

Off to buy buttons from Spotlight for the centers of my flowers.   Going to look cute as......
Using up scrap is not always the cheapest way to go... a block of chocolate may have been a better option.

My Scrappy Year

This year is going to be my year for trying to use up as many scraps of fabric as l can.  This Grab bag as you can see is out of my black and whites. Cut 2 1/2 inches. Could have added another colour or Ric Rac for more interest.
Muti colored fabrics cut 4 1/2 inches has made up a nice patchwork grab bag.

This little beauty was put together for Son no 2 girlfriend's mother. Using up left over fabric from my sewing room swag.  Great colour choice as it all worked out.....her favorite.

Pictures of three of the four Grab bags made. The apple one was original size pattern....others are 50% larger.  Was going to keep the apple bag but a young girl is having her b'day soon and well..... she likes it too. So it will be off in the post soon.

Making some scrappy quilts for son no 1. girlfriends children next....hoping this will put a dent in the scrap stash.

Esk Quilt Show.....Toowoomba Show...

The Esk quilt show was small but very well supported by the local community and others such as myself, stores had plenty to tempt you with and as always l was tempted.... gift draw is becoming rather full might need two draws. Kept me busy for a couple of hours whilst hubby read the paper and enjoyed a coffee. Then we spent the rest of the day at sister-in-laws farm, great child free day.  Here are only a sample of quilts on display.

Last Thursday l spent my birthday with my  Youngest son who was invited to the Toowoomba Agriculture Show to parade cattle for extra points towards his Agriculture Science class. He jumped at the opportunity. Enjoys working with cattle.  Not only did he parade cattle... mind you his cow Tara Daffodil won the under 16 group...but not grand champion.  Hayden was given the chance to judge also.

Isn't she just beautiful....look at that face.

Scraps and More Scraps

Using up all my scraps is proving to be a hand full. Cutting cutting and more cutting, when l'm not cutting l'm sorting sizes and colors.     It takes more time to put things together but l think it is going to be well worth the effort.  Starting this of Friday night for the Friday night sit and sew, but has continued on over the whole weekend and into the week. Slipping away between chores to sew.   Will have to wait and see the finial product.

Cooking and Sewing

Over the Easter weekend I was cooking again, above is a coconut meringue cake was easy. Just the way l like cooking to be, yum mo.    But  not as delicious as this pavlova.
Made another grab bag this time l went of to office works and enlarged my pattern by 50%.  Makes a good size bag without being over the top.  I am getting great use out of my scraps, only having to purchase lining fabric, but not to worry Spotlight was having there 40% off sale today.

The bag  was made for my sons, girl friends mother as they are all off to Tasmania, lucky ducks.

Thought she could use a bag to tote her camera and bits around in. Not so formal & fun. Being purple her favorite colour should be a hit.
