4 Ingredients

What a great surprise when we went to the local shopping center and came across the lady who wrote the 4 Ingredients cook books the one and only Kim McCosker.
We watch the cooking show then were given a free cookbook each and will be on local TV. tonight Andrew was asked what we would be cooking for Christmas Dinner. Great tasting food but not really only 4 ingredients are used though out their recipes.

White Christmas

This is the closest we will come to a white Christmas here in Queensland.  It started out being a very hot morning followed by a very quick and sudden cool change with all the trimming of a fantastic light show followed by very loud thunderous applause.
It was more like a scramble to get the cars under cover and pets inside.
Even though it lasted for sometime and the hail was continuous throughout the storm cel that past over we had no damage.  But l heard that in Gatton they received golf ball size hail.  Glad we did not move there.

SSS Under Tree

Here are my Secret Santa Sack parcels from the very lovely Illene, under the tree waiting for me to open them on Christmas morning.  Sooo Very Exciting.  Thank you Illene this is going to be such fun.  Have played, shaken and felt them  within an inch of the tape wanting to come loose.  But not going to look.  Not going to be naughty only very very nice.  Ok Santa.

Christmas Light 2012

Christmas lights in Toowoomba for 2012.
The whole family went to the annual Christmas lights in Queens Park in  Toowoomba last night, it has become an annual tradition it seems.  This would be our third year of lights.  Glads to see the latest editions, makes the whole experience worth a look every year.
But this year was a special year as son no. 3 was helping out this year putting the display together. Great work all.

These were my favorite ones for this year.  Would love a few of these lantern post in my yard.

Snakes & Ladders

That's right you guessed it!  You are so clever!

Snakes and ladders from the latest  Homespun Magazine. No:113  Vol 13  No:10

Bright and enjoyable great for young children. Loads of fun and easy to put together just the way l like things to be.  Will finish it off with a fabric die and Yo-Yo markers with buttons in four different colour ways.
Next  is the bit l do not enjoy so much..... the quilting... probably echo the snakes and ladders.  Sorry it is not finished but l got so excited, l needed to show you all.   LOL.

Checkers

What am l up to now??
Came across this great pattern and had to try it out.  Using left over fabric from other projects is always a saving.  Some times l wonder why l purchase some colours......but they come in  handy eventually.
Never thought of combinding these two colours before, but they set each other of nicely..... great for this project.

Not sure who l am making this for at the moment, will have to wait and see how it all turns out.

Another first.....keep watching to see if you have guessed right.

Sneak Peak Christmas Gifts

My good friend Bobbie.B from "it's all about me" blog gave me this lovely coat hanger cover pattern which l have made several....so easy and quick....great for a special and different gift idea.
Made a matching bag for traveling  inspired by Homespun magazine to keep you slippers or lingerie neatly packed away..... made another eye mask also inspired by Homespun magazine but this time put this lovely soft fabric which helps you to enjoy the whole experience....so soft.  Added these knitted slippers which  keep you toes warm and pampered.
This whole package is for Rachel for Christmas.
Made all these extras with left over fabric from the Amy Butler bag l made her last year.      What a bonus.....
Am  in the process of making a towel and face washer with her initials embroidered upon it.
She will not see this post as Rachel does not know that l blog.....at least l think that is right.

Now l am off to do some well overdue mending for the boys.........also the neighbors child needs his suit pants taken up for his formal.

Dog Leads

Nothing very glamorous happening here.....just practical.  Son No.1 has returned home bringing with him two dogs not one but two. The second one is a friends who needs someone to house his dog for a couple of months.....so being an animal lover son No.1  decided to take him in.  Well this second animal is young and untrained. Son No.1 has been walking and training him.....unfortunately he also likes to chew on power cords, both leads, flower pots the list goes on ( the dog that is) lol.  So to help out l made two more leads so the dogs can still go for their walks. Our yard is not large enough for two med-large animals....plus chickens looking forward to the 1st Dec.
Sometime the dogs visit me in the sewing room, but not allowed to enter.....l am not giving him the chance to  chew any of my projects. lol.

Now it is time to show you my limited purchase which is going to be my next hand project.
Was a fantastic day out with the Toowoomba Quilters Club and Embroidery club.

Home Alone....

Whilst l have been home alone over the last two nights have managed to do some hand embroidery.  But my time has run out and family will start to appear over the next few days as school holidays come to a close.
Like this little Xmas bear very cute...makes into a card or very small something.

The Tea party stitchery comes from Candlelight creations "Teatime Treats"  some very nice stitcheries  in this pattern. Will probably be made into a recipe book cover.   No stitch Police please, am still in the early stages when it come to hand embroidery.

Orchid Show

Went to the Toowoomba Orchid Show this morning being the second day of the opening thought it may be a little less busy and l was rewarded with a more leisurely morning.  Made my way through the rows of exquisite flowers. I was drawn to the softer colours of pinks + purples.

So many different varieties shapes and colours. I made my purchases and went home a very happy young lady.  This year is going to be the year l get my garden in order.  So no one warn my Hubby of what is in store for him when he returns from his trip to Victoria.

Award Winning Garden

Thought l would share this absolutely beautiful garden with you all.
This masterpiece belongs to one of my neighbors here in Toowoomba each year they manage to receive an award for their hard work, this year they have won the Grand Prize for best Overall Garden in the Toowoomba home garden show.  Over the two weeks they expect 20,000 people though their gates to visit their garden. Entry is free, what a labor of love.

Toowoomba comes alive with colour for the two weeks of the carnival of flowers. Many other activities to see like the  Toowoomba quilt show 22nd-28th...music... cafe....shows.

Great to see so many people arriving, bringing the much needed tourism to the area each year. Such a lovely friendly town.

Will explore other gardens throughout the next two weeks and of course the quilt show.
