Matching fabric for my Sewing machine table mat.

Don't you love it when everything coordinates. I have attached the binding to the mat.

Next the mat completed, bound & quilted.
Placed neatly under machine, only thing missing now is the thread catcher, which has not been forgotten. Still in progress.

Looking rather well dressed if l do say so. Fabric brightens up the whole sewing room area.

Valentines Day Dinner.

This is what is on the menu for our Valentines Family Dinner. Roast pork with apple, raisin stuffing, horseradish & garlic gravy. With roast potatoes, pumpkin and steamed broccoli. Recipe from the Coles Christmas magazine 2010 edition.

Homemade Cassata ice cream always the children's favorite. Recipe from the Australian women's weekly Home Library Italian cooking class.

Lemon curd tarts recipe from the Coles magazine again. As l had six egg yolks left over from the pavlova l made two nights ago.

What would be Valentine's Day without a heart or two. Shortbread biscuits decorated with mashmellows and jaffas. Made by my No.2 son.

Going to really need a good work out after this meal.

Thank goodness son's girl friend is coming over to dinner to save me from eating too much.

Great success everyone enjoyed their meals.

Sewing Machine Cover.

Saw this great fabric when l went to Warwick last Wednesday.

Fabric rage is "Bag It!" by Fabri-Quilt,Inc.

Clean, fresh just what l needed for the new sewing area. Was easy to make this machine cover, with ties on the sides. Sometimes the simple things in life are the best.

Purchased enough to make a number of items.

Memories are funny things...you remember people, situations from your past in a different light.... as years go by.

I was looking though my recipe books looking for a certain cake l wanted to make. (A simple tea cake). When out of it's pages fell this little picture my DS2 drew. An" idea" came to me, l would make this into a recipe book cover for my Mother for Christmas this year. So she could collate her favorite Christmas recipes and hand them down after she is no longer with us. ( Which hopefully will not be for a long time yet). I went off to Officeworks to have the original enlarged as l was not sure how l would tackle this project. So l have decide to make my mother a wall hanging also.

My sister Wanda past away in 2009 from the big "C". She was only 52yrs old.
She had a hard life after marring young and having two children a pigeon pair, her marriage broke down, after postnatal depression, nervous break down turned into schizophrenia, for many years, a treatment on medication and shock treatments. Then after she finial come off her medication the big "C" came along with all its treatments. Makes me very emotional just thinking about a life lost.

As a young girl growing up she was a bit of a Tom boy. Full of mischief , fun and a great sister to have on your side. Always there to lend a helping hand if needed. As the years past on into high school she showed her talents with sewing , music and drawing.
This is when she drew this picture for my cookery class. Each year l made a Christmas cake for the family and this year l had chosen to do something a little different. Hence the sketch was drawn onto the cake. I was so excited for getting full marks for having an original idea. Thanks to my sisters help!

Now the same sketch will be used again, keeping her in our thoughts always. These are the memories we leave behind for our loved ones. It was great to be able to remember Wanda as l stitched this small project together and will not be the last time l will be struck by memories.

That's right l am already taking over part of the shed. Hehehe! I have not quite got half but it will all come in time. I was given 1/3rd as long as DH was allowed to put in a false ceiling for storage. Which also works in with my plans. I think my part needs a name.

Shed is going up!!!

Couldn't wait to tell you all the shed is going up!

That"s right the guys were suppose to arrive at 7:00am this morning but eventually arrive at 9:00am. After about 2 hours of working out the puzzle of bits they started erecting the shed.

We have a frame and glass door to my sewing area so far.

They will continue tomorrow to put the walls up and the insulation in. By tomorrow night the shed will be complete.....so excited. Then we have to wait to connect the electricity, pluming for the tanks etc.

So so very excited that we are finial getting closer to moving all the extra boxes of stuff out of the house. After living here for 15 months.

Yeah for us.

Then l can start buying furniture to make my sewing area workable. A visit to the local second hand store for bookcases and draws etc.

It has been along journey getting this far as the shed was suppose to be completed back in November. But with weather and availability of workers than of course Christmas Hols, well you know how it goes.

Small Chrissy Wall Hangings.

Have been busy sewing with all this rain we are experiencing here in Woomba Woomba. I know it is the wet season, but a little sun is not too much to ask for. Decide to make theses three little wall hangings today, have completed two. Will make many more as the year progresses. Need to find the little coat hangers to accompany them. I might be in luck at the Quilter Angel in Highfields. Have been working on a secret little project for my Mother For Christmas will read all about it latter.

Christmas Pudding Wall Hanging

This is a Christmas pudding walling hanging. It measures 11"x16". The pattern is from Cinderberry Stitches by Natalie Lymer. I enlarged the pattern 50% at office works, added two borders and stitched in the ditch. Looks great l think. I may try and search out some buttons to really top this off.

The original pattern is for a note card & envelope which l have also made. Have enjoyed using this pattern.

Concrete Slab

Concrete slab going down for the grand shed (Man Cave). It will be fully insulated and powered. So I do not expect to see Hubby and Sons to often messing up my floor. Has taken way too long in the making but l have been told you don't rush these things.

Hexagons on a Friday night.

In the beginning there was one.......then there were (18) eighteen, to make a hexagon bag. This is what l did this Friday night. Took these hexagon's away with me on our road trip to Cairns and back with out a needle being threaded. Too busy through the day and bad light at night.

Road Trip Far North Queensland

Without boring you all too much the family and l went on a road trip of to North Queensland, thought we would drive and take in the sights of Queensland that the Boys had never seen. As you were aware the Boys were excited about going snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, Whitsunday's son No.4 stayed in the water for the whole time we were out on the reef. Now he is considering a career path change. He didn't know that you could be paid to stay out on the reef pontoon.

They also got to swim at Yeppoon beach without stinger nets the water was still a tad cool, always swimming between flags. Miss the beach now we live in Toowoomba.

Went to the Cairns Tropical Zoo on a cooler day and had a great day out. Stayed with family at Trinity Beach, swam in their pool most days, went sight seeing and visited other family members who have move to Cairns, Atherton. Great Christmas Day and New Years Eve. Next year we have decided Christmas will be in Toowoomba.
This beautiful Cassowary was in the Cairns Tropical Zoo which we were lucky enough to hand feed under the watchful eye of her carer. We of course gave her a name, what else but Cassie. We were also extremely lucky to see a Cassowary in the wild whilst driving though Mission Beach. Could not manage to get a photo as there was traffic behind us at the time, did not want to scare the bird.

A Croc named Zac entertained us at the Zoo also. He was slightly sluggish as the sun was in and he needed to wake up. But a smaller Croc in the enclosure and the one next door, had no trouble trying to hunt down the staff who were on the other side of the fence. They indeed had their hands fuller than they themselves expected.

We also went up to Kuranda on the Tablelands, the Kuranda Market and Sky rail and Barron Falls.The town of Atherton, Malanda, Yungaburra Millaa Millaa.

Found our own Red Dog who was content in following people along the Barron River walking trails. We watched him came and go for about an hour. But he did have a collar on so he belonged to someone.

Most importantly of all is we all had a GREAT TIME.

Silly Season.

Silly season in upon our household, what was to be a quite night out looking at the Toowoomba Christmas lights turns in to a circus for our teenage children. Believe me they are no Angels. Obviously they like to act the fool and sing Christmas carols as people pass by. Their audience joining in on occasions.

My youngest is excited about our up and coming trip to the Great Barrier Reef and his Chartered fishing trip. This will be our last trip together as a family with our Children's life taking them in different directions.
How sad but also very exciting.

Friday Night Sew In.

Even though l did not get that much achieved l did enjoy the time to sit and sew, in not that much silence as the children's friends came over and some ended up sleeping the night.
But managed to get enough done to decide what l am going to make with these Hexagons. Wait for it they are going to find themselves on a cot quilt for my NZ. friends niece's new born. Due to arrive in two about 2 months, so l have plenty of time. lol. Look forward to the next Friday Sit & Sew evening.

On the Home Front

Didn't think it would happen, not at least before Christmas, things were looking doubtful. Especially when the rain come and stayed for two days straight.

But early this morning before we woke the phone call came in stating that the truck with bobcat would arrive within the hour. Mad rush for showers, breakfast and child to school..Last day before Christmas Hols.

Excavations for the new shed are in progress, l have one very happy Hubby.
What a mess, you do not want the red dirt on your shoes. It travels though the house and is very difficult to remove so lucky we have a NO shoes on in house policy.

Checking the levels was the easy part, like with most men they want to take just a little more off the top. Ooooppps, we hit water. That's right no water in the house all day...... have been promised we will have water in time to cook diner.

This little chap visits everyday and today he had more to feast on with the earth turned over he even found a plump witchetty grub. Site Supervisor "Kooka"

Christmas Past & Present.

Here are some of the many creations that have been produced over the last 10 years of my quilting life, for Christmas because l do enjoy this time of the year.....love decorating the house with tinsel, lights and my favourite snow domes.

These are three patchwork blocks made up especial with Christmas in mind, my dearest Hubby made me the frames to suit. I am so very lucky to have so much support.

Next is a quilt/wall hanging from a magazine l cannot remember which one, made it about 2007. Was so very pleased with the results.. Display it every year and always get great comments about it.

Now this little one is very cute think l made this one in 2009 also found in a magazine. hangs around the house, off a door or cabinet.

The tree wall hanging was made some time ago when the children were very small, and we needed to replace our Christmas tree but couldn't make up our mind whether to go with a real tree or store bought so this did that year. We went store and now this year we again have to decide for the future years as they arrive upon us.

The Bon Bons are the latest editions to the Christmas family box of decorations. They will also be given away to guess who arrive,filled with lollies/chocolates.

Chain Piecing.

New meaning to Chain piecing.

I purchase this template at the Brisbane Craft and Quilting expo.

Have not had the opportunity to use until now. Took a couple of minutes to get the hang of what to do...... there is a fare amount of pressing......before you can start.

Once you have the fabric organised you can start takes a short while to cut out and you guessed it more ironing.... this time you are trying to get the cresses out of the fabric.
Then it is time to open out and iron the links open. Make sure you do not cut the end link to close to the end of your fabric, as you need room to flip last link out and have room to sew 1/4"inch.

Now it is time to audition your third fabric to enhance your creation. This is your background fabric.

The template is great for boarders on a quilt or individual blocks. I have made a table runner for the Christmas table.

Dare to Dream

You can buy these words from your local craft stores. Paint the colour of your choice or leave plain, decorate as you like. l chose sequence, but you could add fairy dust (glitter) to the paint or whilst waiting for the paint to dry add glitter,beads etc. A small but messy project to do with your children. Hang them in your children's rooms or about the house.
I heard that they now add these to your wedding tables for decoration. Thought it would also work for Xmas parties, engagements, ideas are endless.

Graduation & Formal

That time of life when the young get to dress up and head off for some long needed fun! Before settling down into the world of work and further education. How the grow from that tiny little bundle you first bring home from hospital, into young adults. My second son heading off to his formal with his lovely friend. They look wonderful.

Whilst the Gold Coast is filling up with our youth from all over Oz most here in Queensland are taking a more relaxed approach to the end of year events. Going on overseas trips or to the Whitsunday.
Schools over Queensland had specially arrange trips to the theme parks with their friends. Most saying there is no need to go to drunk'n beach parties. More power to them.

Time out for some fun!

Purchased this fabric at the Brisbane Quilt and Craft Show. As soon as l saw the fabric l new what project l had in mind. To me the fabric looked like Soap Suds flying around just perfect for the Laundry or Bath room wall. I went to the local Sams warehouse and got myself some canvases. All l needed to do was cover the canvases with the fabric of choice. Fast easy and very affective. Will be trying another project soon for the bedroom wall as a behead.

Ruler cover is a great idea for that different Birthday or Christmas gift. Fantastic way of protecting you purchased and expensive rulers. Makes taking them to classes safer also. Fits ruler 24 x 61/2" inch with extra pocket inside to also fit your 6 x 6"inch rule 5 x 5 0r 4 x 4' inch rulers.

The Casserole carrier is always a gift that is appreciated for those dinner parties. Keeps you food safe whilst travelling in the car.

Special gift for a lucky girl, who happens to be going out with one of my gawjus sons. I had to go out and purchase more fabric, poor me. This is not a colour l feel comfortable with but l think it will be fine.

Update : I have now made (6) that's right six of these bags, think l will have to make the pattern into a template as it is getting a very good work out. lol.

Three Bags Made For Christmas.

These are the Three Amy Butler bags which l have completed for my three beautiful Brisbane nieces for Christmas this year. Each will have her own beach /overnight bag.

This first one is for the youngest it is pretty and girlie without being over the top. Fabric was purchased at The Quilters Angel out in Highfields North of Toowoomba and suits her personality.

The next one is for the middle child, as you may be able to tell by the fabric she is a little bit out there. Full of dickens and great to be around.

The Third is for the eldest who leads and works hard, but has control and maturity. Am excited to see their faces on the day l hand them over.

May need to make a fourth one as number one nephew is returning from New Zealand with family in tow. I think new niece in-law deserves one also.

The fabric for this bag was purchased at Spotlight Toowoomba. Is perfect for this lovely young lady.

Have been asked by #2 son to make one for girl friend also. I think l can manage that quite easily. She is a lovely young woman, just starting out in her career in nursing. They grow up so quick.......

New Bag

Made this new bag today, am planning on making three in all for my teenage nieces here in Queensland. They have very different personalities, so the bags will reflect that with the differences in fabric choices. This Amy Butler bag pattern is very easy to make up. The fabric is Central Park from Moda. Beautiful range of fabrics, soft yet not over the top girlie. Love the over sized flowers. Again l added the extra pockets because of the size of the bag. :}

Spooky Tree

This is my Spooky Tree for my Halloween wall hanging /Quilt. Needed a Spooky looking tree and was given inspiration from another, great work of art from my good friend Jennifer, which is going to work out just fine. The back ground was another quilt which l made, especially with this idea in mind. The 1600 quilt so l am hoping it will all came together. If you have any ideas l would love to hear them, you never know they just might end up in this quilt. That would make it a bloggers round robin quilt. LOL. Cats, Pumpkins Bats, Vines and wording such as BOO! Have already come to mind. This will be a machine appliquéd project. So will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Up dating my progress.

Added cut out shapes to my wall hanging quilt, it is coming along very nicely l think. Next is to and appliqué pieces and sew them in to place. Has come together very quickly and l am very happy with the outcome.

Another UFO Completed.

Having a very good week on the machine, see what you can achieve when you stay home waiting for trades people to show up.
The biggest surprise was that they did show up, and on time. Now don't faint, its true l tell you!!

This is an Amy Butler pattern l purchased early in the year and decided to get a start on it in June. Cut it out between looking at house to buy.

Ran out of iron on interfacing, after a trip down to Spotlight where they also had run out. Was a little down heartened. Waited a few weeks for stock to come in, then lost interest in the bag. Like too many things these days it was shelved.

After completing the Flutter-by bag l was on a roll. In between trades men arriving to quote on the new shed and extensions l sewed and was surprise how easy this bag came together.

The photo below shows the large inside pocket, there are two in the pattern, but l gave it another one for my Phone and Glasses case. Nothing worse than hearing the phone go off and fishing around in on oversize bag trying to find the silly thing.

The bag is HUGE, great for the beach, pool or over night stays at friends homes. The fabric range is Laurel Dots for Westminster fibres. Considering l will be going to Brisbane Craft Show very soon, it will came in handy for any purchases. LOL. I can keep spending until the bag over flows. Maybe l need another one just in case......sound like a plan.

Butterfly Bag Complete

You may say about time... started this project back in May and got way layed.... as we sometimes do, but don't worry l finally finished the beautiful Flutter-By Bag designed by Val Laird. This bag was for one of my nieces birthdays but now she will receive it for Christmas. Enjoyed making the bag and learning along the way how to add sequence. Did have a little hiccup buying the plastic tubing for the handles at Bunnings. Machine did not like sewing through the tubing. Very happy with the finished product.
I know little Teoni will just love the bag. Her mother will have to now put sequence on her shoes & hair pieces to match.

Next Project

If you read the previous post l need space to lay out my next Patchwork creation. Well here it is an old favourite of many quilters, the Dresden Plate. Making it from a Bali Pop that l purchase in Melbourne whilst on retreat this year. Always wanted to make one, but unsure which method l should try. So when l was recently at the Toowoomba Quilt show, l scanned the stores for ideas and came across Busy Fingers and the paper piecing method sounded the better way to go. After making my purchases and heading home. l had to put things on hold for several hours to finish another project place in my path. After tracing around the template for many hours and cutting for even more hours, l was finally able to place my pieces on the floor to view what l was going to be working with. After a while l came up with the colour combination l am happy with. This is a project to be taken to quilting each week, where l can hand sew it and watch it grow into a beautiful quilt .....or if l tire a table runner..... lol.

Scout Poncho

This Scout Poncho came about after many many years of collecting scout associated badges. Many many years of nagging from DH, DS3. Both came up with the idea that Mum could make this Poncho blanket. They moved things along by buying a small blanket, from Sams Warehouse. Trying to get me motivated, still meeting much resistance from me. As l have no time to sew on badges due to my constant quilting obligation and on going imagination in patchwork. So determined were they that they placed the blanket on the dining room floor, with badges spaced and pinned on waiting for me to tire, which l eventually did. It took me several hours to sew them on. Lets pray that they don't earn any more badges.
I needed the space to lay out my next quilting creation.

"Whats in a Name" ???

Was just over checking out Joy's blog where there was a very interesting question being asked,."What's in a Name" and instructed to go to Dawn's blog, "Sweet as Cinnamon" . There was discussion about the reason we choose the blog names we have, maybe they describe our personality, hobbies,etc. ....Sounded like a lot of fun and l do enjoy a good laugh.
The name for my blog came about because we now live in Toowoomba (2x Woomba).
Hence the name'Woomba Woomba"
Hope this makes sense to you all.
They also stated there may be a prize in it. You know l cannot resists a freebie, not that l am lucky enough to win. But you gottta be in it to win it.

Present The Present In The Present.

Hope this heading is not to confusing.....but would like to share a gift l have sent off, to a friend for her b'day. The mail from here takes about 4 days so hopefully it should have arrived. I couldn't wait to post about it.

It took me sometime to decide what to make.... In case you have no idea what it will be it is a Bolster for her bed....needs to be stuffed......now now no funny comments....LOL.

Made from a pattern from The Rivendale Collection by Sally Giblin " A Thing Of Beauty" also sent of a bag pattern, a pre printed panel for a table runner.
A lovely little flower brooch purchased from the Toowoomba Quilt Show, which was made by one of the members. I am not an embroiderer..... so please no stitch police.

Day out at the coast.

Spent a few hours down at Surfers Paradise on the 23rd September, was great to be on the beach. The water was a tad cool, but was an enjoyable time. Had lunch at one of the street Cafe's with family. It has change since l was there last, always new buildings going up up up.

Headed on to Greenbank Army Barracks, where one of our Sons was on Parade, after a week long camp for Cadets. There were over 600 Cadets on the camp that week. They do a lot more than learn how to march. They form friendships that could last a life time, they learn how to be part of a team effort and how to problem solve. Sleep out in tents with out Mum cleaning up after them. Spend a night or two camping out in the bush with out the comforts of the tent. The chance to learn how to handle weapons with respect, was given to a few. Overall a great time was had.

Of course Mum was not forgotten, because when he step back in the house the next day, the washing was handed over. Whilst he went for a long need sleep. lol.

Toowoomba Quilt Display.

Toowoomba Quilters Displayed their quilts at the local Quilt show, held the same week as the carnival of flowers a must see event, these ladies have a load of talent and very willing to share all they know. Beside the Quilts there were stores with items to purchase for friends, Birthday gifts, Early Christmas gifts or even something for yourself.

Members were also on hand to teach or show you different patchwork techniques such as Paper piecing hexagons, Foundation piecing curves, and Strip piecing to name a few.

Queens Park Flower Display

Beautiful display of flowers, in the garden beds. Lots of colours and textures. Efforts of many many people with great success over the week of the carnival of flowers. People from all over the Toowoomba region and the Country, come each year to view the gardens. Well worth a trip to the city, there are many activities that happen though out the week. Lots of colour around Toowoomba, the Garden City of Queensland. These pictures were taken at the 2011 Winners garden. Set on a slightly hilly allotment spread out over 2 acres with beautiful gardens. So many different garden rooms. Absolutely stunning. I so enjoy colour in the garden........none in mine this year. Am exhausted at looking at such beauty.

This little guy was an experiment with a transfer pen. Photo copied the imagine from a child's colouring book, from years gone by. Was not happy with the way he came out. The pen nib is to thick, would have been much better to trace an imagine on light box. He will not be wasted though, l am going to turn him into a Library book bag, for a niece staring Kinda next year. I am sure she is going to love him. Might even colour him in with pencil and set the colour.

They look like flowers and very suitable for the quilt show which is held in the same week as the carnival of flowers. One of the most popular flower show in Australia. So come along to the Toowoomba Carnival of flowers and visit with the Toowoomba Quilters Quilt Show from 17-23 September. The whole town will be a buzz with activities.

Sewing Space.

Well here is my new sewing space. Full of boxes and plastic tubs. Will not have new sewing room until we renovate, hopefully early in 2012. So for now l will have to manage the best way possible. This space is the meals area of the house which we do not use, because it has been full of boxes for the last 10 months. Now that we have purchased, l have been slowly unpacking and resorting our worldly goods. Have given a lot away to the op shops. I am sure someone else will find a better use for them. Looking forward to a larger more organize space.

1,600 Quilt

The girls at a resent retreat were all having ago at making this very quick and easy Quilt. It is called the 1,600 Quilt because it measure 1,600 inches when you join the 40 x 2.5 pieces together, best using a Jelly Roll as you get 40 different fabric selections. I used a Bali Pop which has repeat fabric.
This is not a problem for what l will eventually do with mine. I am going to use my quilt as a background fabric and appliqué over top. I will post upon completing.

The idea is to sew all fabric together end to end then bring both ends together removing, 18 inches from one end. Then sewing down the long edge to the end. I found if you pressed the seams as you go it made the quilt a lot easier to handle. Repeat approx 5 times. Was very quick to do, so if you need a quilt in a hurry this could be the one for you. Well it is showing signs of an early spring here in Toowoomba the flowers are starting to show themselves. My little Orchid was flowering when l arrive home from my trip. Almost had forgotten what colour it was. Planning on a lot more gardening this year. I know l say this every year.

Firstly l booked my trip to Melbourne around the North Of The Yarra Quilters annual retreat, which is held out at Myrniong on Lake Dewar. Great accommodation, food and company. We are always spoilt with great welcoming gifts made by members who give up their time to make something special each year. Thank You Kris, Jackie, Dianne, Margaret, Julie another wonderful weekend away.

My good friend Jennifer picked me up from my Mothers home and took me via Gayle B's shops. We would frequent this shop often once upon a time. I was able to purchase items l have not been able to find here where l live. The apple core and Dresden template l have been searching the net for. Also l purchased 3 Bali Pops, one l will use to make the 1600 quilt, thanks Dianne.
We met up with the group for lunch at Rivers garden Centre in Yarrambat, than continued on to the retreat via Ballan Quilt store. Beautiful fabrics and tea house.

Being a full member l was also given my quoter of raffle tickets to sell, for their bi annual quilt show held at the Eltham Community Centre, 801 Main Rd, Eltham. Sat 8th & Sun 9th October 2011. Melways Ref: 21 J6. Check out their website for further details. Well worth a look if you are in the area.

Also belonging to the Toowoomba Quilters l received tickets for their annual quilt show raffle. Both quilts are well worth purchasing a ticket or two. Which l will certainly be doing. The Toowoomba Quilt show is held at The Solo Centre, St Ursula's College, Rome street, Toowoomba. Saturday 17th September 2011, for the week of the garden carnival..

On the retreat l manage to do this little wall hanging stitchery. A great deal of laughter, chatting and catching up with old friends. Because l didn't take a great deal of work with me others found me plenty to do.

Saturday Drive

Went for a drive on Saturday to view a property out at Crow's Nest. Thinking of a weekender for the boys to ride there bikes to their hearts content, alas it was not for us. So we decided not to waste the trip, took the scenic route home. Past Lake Perseverance, Lake Crestbrook both had plenty of water. We were told by agent this is where people go boating, fishing and camping over the school breaks. Will have to find out more about......

Continued to Ravensbourne where we came across this lovely picnic area. Gus Beutels Lookout absolutely magnificent views. Your see 180 degrees from Cunningham's Gap around to Esk and beyond.

Love these big old trees, their branches reach out and give you a lot of shade coverage. They are huge in size and width. The root system is always so intriguing. Perfect place to spend a glorious Summers day with young children in this park like setting.

Cheese cake

Dear Hubby wanted to make a cheese cake just like his big sister. After a phone call for the recipe, he was off to the shops for the ingredients. Twenty four hours later we were allowed to have a small taste. This of course was not one slice taken out but two.
Was absolutely delicious. He has really been into the sweets lately and it is beginning to show. The boys have been enjoying his new found distraction, with no complaints.

Making a start on the items which l HOPE to donate to the Toowoomba Quilt Sale Table come September. It is good to be sewing again. Have not really got into it since the move. Busy with life and looking for the right house that has that special feeling of a home. Need to start and finish projects l have discarded for way too long. Enjoying the weather today sun is shining the wind has all but gone the temp is 22c. Need to have most things completed before l go away on retreat to Melbourne.

On Tuesday morning l was to rise earlier than normal, and drive my car to the Toowoomba Quilters Club Rooms by 7.00am. You can not be late or the bus will leave with out you, is the catch call. After parking the car for the day l mingled with the other ladies attending the trip to the Gold Coast. The bus arrived on time and all embarked for the days outing. Can you imagine 36 ladies all rugged up with beanies, gloves and jackets as it has been a wee bit cold of late. it truly was a sight.
We stopped along the way beside the Brisbane river in Redcliffe near the railway station, for morning tea about 90 minutes into the trip with a much needed stretch of the legs. The weather had changed and was quite warm. Which is normal once you have left the Range. Then back onto the bus and arrived about another 90 minutes later, at the Art centre on the Gold Coast. Lovely new building with loads of parking right next to the Gold Coast Council Building where we viewed the Quilts made by the ladies from the Gold Coast Quilters Group. I'm always in awe of people's exceptional talents and patience. The quilts displayed all hold there own special uniqueness and was very difficult to choose only one for the viewers choice.I purchased my share of raffle tickets and once again embarked on to the next stage of our journey. The Quilt shops and of course lunch at a local bakery. mmmmm delicious. The orders had been phoned through to the bakery so they would be ready when we descended upon the small shop.

We were supplied with afternoon tea at the shabby sheik quilt shop, Patchwork Dreaming fresh scones, strawberry jam with cream of course. Loved this funky lampshade. Very sixties/seventies.

Dalby

Dalby a town about an hours dive west of Toowoomba. Took us a little longer as we were driven there by one of the L drivers, thanks to the 120 hours No 3 Son needs to obtain. Problem is we are doing 240 hours as we have two L Plate Drivers. When we finish we start all over again with No 4 Son. Lucky us. Ha ha ha ha!
Upon arriving safely which was not true for others ahead of us, we visited the tourist information centre and took the tourist drive and continued to rack up some more hours of driving around the town. After having a good look around town and taking a break before heading home. We sat around the park soaking up the suns rays. At the information centre in town they have these puzzle pieces attached to the walls of the different industry's around the region. Sheep, Wheat, Cotton, Wine and Mining. Great to get out and see the other towns in the area that make up the Toowoomba region.

Always trying out new ideas for Christmas decorations, to give away to children who visit at Christmas or friends & family who drop in. These cute little Christmas sweets should work a real treat both with children and their parents. Quick and easy to sew, sew a few extra for the front hall stand or the Christmas table. Great gift idea for that Xmas in July gift. In a different fabric you could be ready for Halloween/ Valentines Day. Embellish any way you like.

Small patchwork store in the centre of town. Lovely fabrics and classes. Needed this fabric for project l wanted to start. Glorious day out for a drive temp 22c in Warwick. Drove back through Cunningham's Gap towards Ipswich then back to Toowoomba where the temp dropped to 17c. Great drive took most of the day and back in time to pick up the children from school. Now l think l need a Nana nap. lol. Lots of people on the move for the school holidays with their campers and vans etc...

Hi there in blog world, today DH and l decided to venture out and take a leisurely drive down to Warwick only an hour from Toowoomba. Which of course took us two. As Hubby likes to see what is up this road and down that one, then asks where are we? can you get out the map. But l knew that would happen so l was ready this time. Only taken me 20years. lol. We arrived at Glenrose patchwork shop which is a lovely property just outside of Warwick. It is in a private house with a shop attached. There are lovely B&B Cottages set amoungst the beautiful grounds. Could spend another two hours looking and touching all the glorious fabrics a must see if you are every up this way. Many products for sale with a sewing thyme. Pin cushions, scissors, wine bottle holders, bags, quilts, and loads of patterns and many different and varied fabric styles to choose from. Soft and pretty, country and civil war and brights just about everyone would be covered. Very happy with the fabric l purchased, look forward to my next trip down to Warwick.

Bus Trip To Beenleigh Quilt Show.

Bus left Toowoomba Quilters club house at 8.30am on a very cold Friday morning. Destination Beenleigh Quilt Show. After an enjoyable bus trip which entertained all for the 2hour ride with many games and prizes. This game was called Quilters Bingo, we also played Bus Pass the Parcel, How many buttons in the jar, how long is a piece of string etc.

There were many quilt shop stores around to entice you into buying there wares. Many with fabric patterns and even beads in the main building. I was like a bee to honey, for Joy Patches stand. So pretty and girlie.

Met this wonderful lady Joy of Joy Patch Blog. Many of you will already know her. Very friendly & personable with her beautiful work on display. All her patterns were available to purchase. I love her patterns. Did a bit of Christmas shopping here for friends and self. Hehehehe! Love your blog Joy.

Beenleigh Quilt Show.

Very excited, l am off to the Beenleigh Quilt Show in the morning with the Toowoomba Quilters. Leaving early in the morning to connect with the bus at the club house. The journey to Beenleigh is about two hours l think, not really sure as this will be my first time there. If we are not all spent by the end of or visit, there will be more shopping to be had on or way home via quilt shops. Great to be part of this very friendly group, looking forward to spending up.

The little RED car, for so long l have been driving around in a people mover, playing taxi for my children. Now we have moved into the next phase of our lives. A smaller 5 seater with the modern cons. for around town. Now the boys are getting their learners they will need to drive a manual car.

The Bilby

I would like to introduced you to Frank and his Bilby. Frank is very passionate about the Australian Bilby. He has spent a great deal of his life trying to protect these adorable little creatures. In Ipswich there is a wildlife park for the Bilby which has taken a lot of effort on behalf of Frank and his partner to accomplish. He encourages people to visit the park with free entry, the park is second to none in the world. Sea World on the Gold Coast had there own Bilby project but, it couldn't manage to breed these little creatures and sent them up to Franks Bilby park and they had no trouble breeding.

This is on my things to do list. If you wish to support his cause, remember to buy your chocolate Bilby at Easter ONLY from DARRELL LEA where 100% of the money goes to the Bilby's. Stay away from Myers, Coles, Kmart. .

TQG Big Cuppa Day

This was another fun day held by the Toowoomba Quilters. Sue and I were on the greeting table, pink was the thyme, most members joined in and dressed for the days activities, with fun in their hearts.
We enjoyed many wonderful pink tit bits for afternoon tea. Have you every eaten pink egg or even pink bread, well now l can say l have.
The small Japanese coin purses which l made for the event went down a treat. Everyone went home with something to show for their day out.

Multi raffles were held though out the day. About 40 in all. The group were all a chatter about there sewing and the guest speaker,(Dr. David Bilbrough) who talked to us about the different types of skin cancer. Which was extremely interesting to say the least.
The challenge nine patch Pink of course, blocks were also raffled off there were enough to make 4 single bed quilts and 1 lap quilt.
We had glorious weather today making the event even that much more enjoyable. The park land out side the very large open glass doors always looks so very inviting.

Hat block

That's right l have made this block for the Country Cottage Garden Quilt.

Now l have all my blocks for the centre of the quilt. Lots more sewing to do. Boarded by 2 1/2 inch blocks, add lots & lots of appliqué. Then another boarder of more 2 1/2 inch blocks then a 1 1/2 inch plain colour boarder followed by finial boarder of 4inch floral print fabric. Should take me a while so NO new projects until this one is finished. LOL Famous last words. Well maybe small ones.

Country Cottage Garden Quilt.

I started this quilt back in 2007 it was in Patchwork & Quilting Vol 16. No 1. The quilt project was called Peaches & Cream by Therese Hylton's from the Patchwork Pumpkin in Frankston Vic. As with most things l do lately l have changed two blocks, one being the hexagon block before you and the other will be revealed once l know myself. LOL.

This quilt is being hand pieced and machine quilted. Was packed away for the move and now l can sit and sew by the TV at night or down at the block. Either way l can start to see light at the end of this four year tunnel. Makes up to be a quilt finished size 174cm x 215cm (68 1/2in X 84 1/2 in).

This is my version of the flutter-by bag by Val Laird in the Homemade magazine (Bags for all occasions). Mine is not as sweet and pretty as Val's. But it is going to a young lady who loves purples. It will however become more sparkly, with sequencings. I shall also add two large pockets to the inside of the bag. For her little treasures. Will update when completed.

Was time out to enjoy ourselves for a couple of days. Once again we were invited to DH Sister's farm for a bit of old fashioned fun. Not a computer in sight. Toasting Marshmallows, fishing, swimming, hand piecing blocks, playing cricket, riding bikes (motor) watching the sun set. Was postcard perfect, wish this could be our everyday! Our day will come, l am sure.

Proud of are youth here in Toowoomba. They not only showed their support in both services, Dawn and 9am but the scouts where also in full force all over the Toowoomba region.

We are so very proud of our youngest, standing up for what he truly believes. A very proud Australian, who is excited about his part in the future of his Country, and it's boarders. He took the time not only to watch but take part in the services here in Toowoomba. Lest We Forget.

Have you guessed, what l was up too?

I purchased the pattern at the Quilters Angel sometime ago. But as my machine was still packed away, l did not get a start on this project which l have been wanting to make for a while. Fabric was purchased at Spotlight. As my fabric is still in boxes ????

If you were to go back into my old posting you would surely guess. But that was so long ago.
YES!! you are right, this is the frilly dilly bag, from the Janelle Wind collection.
The only thing l am not really happy about is that it is already a bit weighty, before you start to put your bits in. Maybe if the ruffles were made from sheer fabric it would be better. But l love it just the same.

Kookaburra Christmas.

As most of you would have read on an earlier post, l had received a gift voucher for a KK gift for 2010.
Which was redeemed at the Country Quilts store in North Ipswich. One of the purchases was this red work design from embroideroo " Kookaburra Christmas" designed by Sandi Butler. As l am a beginner, l thought it would be appropriate. As you can see l have not yet completed this project but it will not belong before l do. Searching out my red fabrics packed away in a box for the move to QLD, to easy to purchase more fabric, but this year trying to use up stash first. Have enjoyed the journey so far. Looking for a local frame shop to have the finish product framed and ready for hanging come Christmas 2011. Would like to be organized this year.

Handmade Christmas Ornament.

Handmade quilted fabric ornaments. Watching You Tube quilting tutorials and came across this video showing how to make this lovely little ornament. l have plenty of scraps to play with, decided to put my time to good use, whilst watching television.

Think it looks really pretty in pink. Think the photos came out really great too.
Will make a few more in a variety of colour combos. Easy and quick to make, great for a small special Christmas gift.

Windmills

Thought l would share these Windmills with you, they are on site at the Cobb & Co museum in Toowoomba Qld. The site was formally the Old Toowoomba Show Grounds. The story goes that the windmill merchants would arrive at the show grounds at the appropriate time of year, set up their displays for the farmers to view. Another great Aussie icon.

Gympie Music Muster presents "SPIRIT OF THE COUNTRY" which was held on Sunday 20th March 2011.
Admission was allocated via ballot after fans registered their interest on the Internet, you could only gain entry into the event by wearing an official wrist band which you needed to pick up prior to the day. No wristband no entry.
The weather was a bit on the gloomy side, with a touch of the wet stuff. The car park was a field of mud, so we parked our car not knowing if we would be able to get out after the event was over.

Was well worth the effort, with the program consisting of the great names of country music:

Over 25,000 attended. Largest country get together ever in the history of country music, so we were told.

We manage to help others who's cars were stuck in the mud at the end of the night. After finial reaching our car walking through mud up to our ankles which felt like our knees. No lights out in the car park either.

Will talk to the mayor about that tomorrow night at our meeting.

Girls In Stitchers

Hello all,
Had a wonderful day out at the Quilters Angel in Highfield, Toowoomba. A day for celebrating women, allowing time for yourself. Met and sat with a great group of women l had never met until today. All very pleasant and full of dickens. (Just like Jennifer, Libby and Simone V.) You know who you are.

Arrived at 9.00am, registered at the marque, sorted out my seating arrangements. Went for a walk around the other beautiful shops in the Village green area. Of course l managed to make my way into the patchwork store, made a mental list to come back at the end of the day to purchase items, but it was so crowded when l returned, that l will have to venture out on Monday. Feel sorry for me yet??

Once the day was underway we were introduced to our tutors, heard a little about what we would been doing for the day.

We started with tea/coffee and mini muffins, introduced ourselves around the table, telling each other our life stories, of how we had arrive at this place in time, as you do. Whilst we sorted ourselves out to start our projects, checking out our gift bag. We were very spoilt as always. We received two patterns one from Sue (patchwork with busy fingers) the other form Linda (Bella embroidery) both very lovely patterns. Some extremely beautiful fabrics from the Quilting Angel store.

Then it was on threading needles, cutting threads, concentrating on the task at hand.
Through out the day we were shown techniques by the tutors, and products that make life for the sewer easier. Will never have a problem with English paper Piecing or coping patterns again. lol

Lunch arrived at about 12.30pm it was delicious, pumpkin, sweet potato, spinach pie with salad a glass of wine followed by fresh fruit afterwards. We were entertained while we ate by a singer and her partner their names escape me for now. The weather was just fantastic, company could not have been better. Overall a great day of sewing, learning and new friendships started. The day was over to quickly finishing at 3.30pm.
Looking forward to the next one.

GIRLS IN STITCHES is happening this weekend 12th-13th March at the Quilter's Angel in Highfields, have been looking forward to this for sometime now. I will be attending on the Saturday, DH will drop me off at 9.00am for a full day of sewing, chatting and of course some Wine & Chocolates. Looking forward to meeting our tutors for the day first Sue Daley (Patchwork with busy fingers) also Linda Blake ( Bella Embroidery). Let you know how the day went. Hopeful the rain will stay away for the weekend.

Chocolate Or Wine.

Started this project last August at the NOTYQ annual Retreat. Needed some hand work in case there were too many machines in use. Which of course there were. The pattern came from the book "Wrapped In Chocolate" by Janet Rowe of Wildcraft Farm.

But as l worked on these blocks, l had the opportunity to chat, laugh and general enjoy myself. Some my say a little too much. Then there was the wine at night to help you keep those stitches straight. Was not sure if l should use the light brown for light chocolate or the dark for the dark chocolate so l did both.

Using this time to gain knowledge about embroidery, as l know not what l do. Which are the best needles, threads extra, which chocolate goes well with that wine. It took me the three day weekend to complete what you see here and l plan on having this quilt finished for Show and Tell this year.

That's right Simone V. l will be back to keep you company. I"II bring the Chocolates.

Went Exploring.

That's right l went exploring my new surrounding again on Friday and visited, for me, a new shop (Quilts & Craft) where l purchased backing fabric and this delightful jelly roll (baskets of flowers). Looking forward to using it in my next quilt. Of course l should unpack all my UFO's first and complete them, but the thought of unpacking then re-packing them when we move again is too much effort. So l think a new quilt is the better way to go, don't you.? I think it may look very nice in one of the quilts from the book Scrap-basket Sensations by Kim Brackett.

I am now official a signed up Member of the Toowoomba Quilters. They are a lovely group of welcoming women who are community minded, as are all quilters. On the second Tuesday of each month they hold a shared lunch which is a great way of celebrating those Birthdays, that keep happening every year, not to mention that most quilters are also great cooks. Toowoomba Quilters have an annual Quilt show which co-insides with the Toowoomba Garden Festival. Making the town a great place to visit especially at this time of the year. (In September).

Shopping In Ipswich

Today hubby and l drove down the mountain to Ipswich, to do a little shopping at the local quilt store. "Country Quilts". We arrived after sitting in traffic for sometime as road works are still very much going on down there plus a truck broke down reducing the flow down to one shared lane for traffic going both ways. Arriving about 10.30am after leaving the house at 8.30am and dropping children at school.

The trip was well worth the effort. The store is full of wonderful patterns, fabrics, books and the very happy and helpful shopkeeper.

Really happy with my purchases with the help of kk gift voucher. Thank you ladies in Melbourne. Looking forward to the quilt show this year held by North of the Yarra Quilting Guild in Victoria. Always beautiful work to see.

These are going to be travel tags for my luggage when l go back to Melbourne to visit my wonderful friends.
And for my trip to Phuket later in the Year for a friends daughters wedding.

On the way home we dropped by Gatton to Sewing Creations and picked up this beautiful fabric by Anna Griffin what a great find. Think it will look great in a Dresden plate quilt on red background.

Traffic cleared for the trip back home, arriving just in time to pick the children up after school. So it was a full day out. Thank you to my wonderful husband and his kind heart. He doesn't need to see the receipts.

Glad to hear that a number of bloggers are safe after what must have been an extremely frightening and upsetting 24 hrs. I have been contacted by my mother to state that my Sister and Brother and their families are all safe and well. l don't know how there properties fared the cyclone as yet, but no doubt that will came when they are able to return to their homes. They both live in Cairns one at Trinity Beach the other at Kerrawa Beach both homes have survived other cyclones of less ferocity, but the risk of the flooding was enough for them to move to higher ground. Now the re-building, both mental and physically can begin. Our prayers go out to you all.
UPDATE: Both of the homes have been unaffected, my Sisters has a few branches and mountains of leaves in the pool. My brothers looks the way he left it, not a thing out of place. Very very lucky people.

Time to smell the Roses.

Look how beautiful & healthy my rose is thanks to the recent rain and placement in the garden.

Well l am all blogged out at the moment, have blogged 8 times in the last 24hrs time to stop and smell the rose and read a book or three. I'm off to the world of Yeehaa Cowboy.

Here we are at the House Of 1000 clocks, as the Boys try to count the clocks to prove the owner wrong and become bored when they notice the sweet shop next door, Hubby and l take in the beautiful clocks.

This was one for the kitchen, saw ones for outdoors for the alfresco area also.

You will find The House of 1000 on the New England highway 10k outside of Highfields heading North.

We had a very busy Sunday went to a couple of Framers Markets. Listened to music as we ate our lunch. Had a short dance just enough to embrass the children then continued our search for a bargain.

Found this very comfortable hand made outdoor seats. Hubby tested it out whilst l checked out the hat stand. Thought we might just have to put an order in for one of the outdoor arrangements.

As the market came to a close about 1pm we move off and continued our drive to Crow's Nest.

Lots of treasures found, in Antique store in Crow's Nest.

Lovely colours amongst all this glassware. Talk about op shop find. At a much higher price tag of course.

Looking for Weekender

Don't want to have to travel to far to have a Weekender.

Found a property which may suit out near Cooby Dam. Needs work on drive and to try and snake proof it in some small way. As it does not look as if anyone has used it for awhile. Drive will need to be graded.

May need a 4WD to take boat down and back to the water. The house in on top of a hill so no worries about floods in future. The boys can ride there bikes and go shooting with out a care. The road into the property had recently been repaired.

Purple violets, love the fabric and pattern. Hope it brings someone comfort.

First quilt l made in a class at Kate's Sewing Centre in Melbourne. Now it can find a new home.

About two weeks or so ago the ridge road was opened for traffic, it was slow going because of rock slides etc. Up one lane then down same lane, ten cars at a time behind an escort car. Last week it is still only partly open only one side of the highway is open it will take sometime to get back to "normal".

Thought l would catch up on my news. Have been trying our hand at gardening in pots since we cannot make a veggie patch here in this rental. Looking so forward to growing our own veggie and fruit again.

Here are our Capsicum seedlings, self sown. Read about re-using old toilet roll holders to grow your seeds in and then you can re-plant the whole thing into the ground once the seedlings have taken. The cardboard then breaks down and helps to feed the plant as it does, plus holds the moisture in the soil. With the cost of Fruit & Veg going up it seems like good idea.

Very happy with my Radishes, have been full of flavour and the boys like then too. Adds that extra something to a salad.

Snow peas who does not like these. Great in stir-fry's, salads if l can stop the boys eating them of the vine.

Strawberries have been ripening and we have had quite a few in our ice cream. Yummy.

Hoping to have some success with the Watermelon it has been about 8 weeks, it is only starting to flower now. Going to try and grow a lemon tree in a very large pot. Any helpful hints.

Return to school rush.

Today we are heading off to a meeting with the local high school to enroll our three children. Tried to do this back in November before school finished for 2010, but the person in charge was away on holidays. Meaning we had to wait and see as we are in their catchment area. We did not waste time, sort out other schools in the Toowoomba area on our side of town, 5 in total. To find that all were booked out in the year levels needed.

It was interesting that we could not get information when we were in Melbourne, about schools in the area even after DH rang the Department of Education of Queensland and was switched though to the Department of Roads. Maybe alarm bells should have started to ring then.

Wasn't the Prime Minister the Minister in charge of Education? Why is it that there is not an Australian wide curriculum, so that everyone is on the same page. This may mean sending one of our children back to Melbourne to finish his schooling to obtain a better than average education. Hopefully this will not have to happen. We will see what Queensland has to offer in about an hour. One very annoyed and frustrated parent.

Then it will be off to purchase any books and uniforms.

Good news we have uniforms and books organized, still trying to work out classes. Two out of the three boys my have to go to TAFE to complete their chosen career paths.

The Australian Way/ Toowoomba Quilters Guild

Firstly l went to my first meeting with the Toowoomba Quilters Guild in Jellicoe St. Toowoomba on Tuesday. Met with a lovely welcoming group of women whom have open their hearts to the plight of the flood survivors. Making quilts and bags of goodies for other quilters whom may have lost all their sewing supplies and for the communities affected as many other groups all over Australia are also contributing. They are also holding a morning tea to raise funds towards the relief fund/Australia Day celebrations. What it means to be an Australian a Proud Nation of Mateship & helping others when they need it most. Photos to follow.

Amy Bulter Bag Pattern

Went for a nice drive through the rain yesterday, with hubby to the Quilters Angel. Needed to get out of the house, being stuck inside for this long is making me stir crazy. Decided to buy this pattern and fabric to brighten up my spirit, but still have no where to set up my machine. Might have to make the family eat at the breakfast bar, as l do not like to pack away until l finish all my sewing. We always sit down together to eat and we would not be able to do that. So l am trying to wait patiently. When they go away for a weekend after all this rain stops maybe l can get some sewing done.

Was inspired by your beautiful blogs today and thought l would try my hand at drawing..

Gum Tree leaf on a branch, added a couple of nuts and wattle type flowers. Hope you can make it all out. Need more practice.

Might take up drawing lessons, this year. Don't think l did too badly. You never know what you can do if you put a pencil in your hand and start. Faces out of a book.

New Years Day 2011

Spillway at Wivenhoe Dam between Esk & Fernvale. Letting out massive amounts of water. The spray that was coming off the water was unbelievable.

Water heading down to the Brisbane river. Cannot tell in photo but it moves very fast.

Photo of sister-in-laws block somewhere between Esk & Fernvale. On the Wivenhoe dams edge. Beautiful place to rest and relax from the stresses of day to day life. The dam is so full with even letting the water out at such a fast rate it is 300metres into their property past the fence line.

Go for a paddle or a fish, just relax letting the water rock you to sleep whilst reading a book. Great time did not even see or here the boys.

Found these Green tree frogs out side our bedroom window. They were having a great conversation I'm sure. But the did quieten down about 1am.

Now these frogs our for my friend Libster. This was the boys first encounter with a Cane Toad. They found is quite ugly, their cousins found it amusing, that they had never seen one before.

The boys even got to try out the bikes on the property. With Sean ending up at the Esk Hospital with a dislocated elbow. After falling off the bike he was riding, Only doing 30ks because he does not enjoy outdoor sports rather be on the computer. Only needs to wear a sling for two weeks to rest it up. He had put his arm back into place himself. Gave it a go and says it is not for him. The Hospital staff were fantastic. Big tick.

I received three beautiful birds which will not need any extra attention. No 3 son saw me looking at them in a shop and quickly bought them without my knowledge (Nice surprise).

Now l know you other ladies have not yet received your KK Gifts but l am going to share mine with you early. I have once again been spoilt with your generosity two lovely fabrics which are going to challenge me. I have been patting them to see what comes to mind. Also a gift certificate to Country Quilts Co in Ipswich, going to check out there site. You are to generous for words. Thank you my KK. Simone V. You did all proud. Or thou it was slightly wet on Christmas eve we braved the weather to view the wonderful light display at Queens Park in Toowoomba.

What would Christmas be without the Tree.

The true meaning of Christmas some how always takes second place to what is popular.

We all seem to enjoy the bright lights and glitz that the commercial side of Christmas shows.

Fantastic display of lights and the Children enjoyed them even if we were wet and needed warm cups of hot Chocolate upon our return home.

You will find a sign like this on my home once we find one. Have seen many different houses in the past few weeks. From very modern new to needed help. We have decided we would like to say in town rather than having to drive everywhere. Most people we have met have been friendly.Found Doctors, Dentists, Shopping centres etc.

Would this make a good quilt store outside town, needs a little paint. Maybe a coffee shop also, because it's way of the beaten track. LOL.

Now here is the view from The Village Green, have signed up for the Girls Stitch In, which is held in March with special guests Sue Daley (Patchwork with Busy Fingers) and Linda Blake (Bella Embroidery). Also Stitches Dream Day Out in September, special guests are Natalie Ross (In stitches) Julie Lovell ( Calico Farm Designs) Libby Richardson (Art Small Craft Cottage) Should be fun. Will get to meet more people and get some sewing done.

New meaning to eating out doors. There is a group of six shops in Highfields close to and across from The Village Green selling gift ware and country crafts and furniture.

Got out and about today, went for a drive to the Cooby Dam. It is one of the Dams that supply water to Toowoomba. Tiny compared to Melbourne's water source.

I have never seen such a sight. It has rained for three week now. We seem to get small breaks in the weather, so you hang out your washing, only to turn around and run out in the rain to retrieve what you can before it is to late. Storms came over so quickly, and stop just as fast. They say in Melbourne if you don't like the weather wait 5 mins. Toowoomba is a close second at the moment, hot, muggy, wet, windy foggy mist. Feel sorry for the dog outside, lying around soaking up some rays, then drench and hiding away in kennel.
